Probably one of the most enjoyable times of our week is our youth worship band practice. Back in February, Ginger and I found some hidden talents in our youth group. We found that we have some excellent musicians. We had a drummer, a couple guitarists and some great singers. Our first few months were rocky, as the students tried to learn the songs and work together. Practices would take a couple hours for only 3 songs. As time went on, they began working together better, and now they sound awesome. Around April, a family joined our church who had an eighth grader, who plays drums like a professional and a Sophomore who is great at the guitar, but mostly plays bass for us. Adding their talent to the mix was like the icing on the cake that the band needed.
But for me, there is more than just seeing and hearing these students worship the Lord through instruments and singing, getting to know them has been the real blessing. We have some students that humble me with their knowledge of God and relationship with Him. It's awesome to hear students talk about what God is doing in their lives, rather than surface stuff like movies and sports. So anyway, I just wanted to share this... and if any band members read this, You Rock!
